A miniature scale model representation of an object that is smaller than the original object. Scale models can be made of virtually anything, from buildings to vehicles to planets. This page focuses on commercial airplane scale models.
The most common scales for airplane scale models are 1:500 and 1:400. But 1:600, 1:250, 1:200 and 1:100 models are quite popular as well. The biggest models are usually the most detailed. But they are also the most expensive ones, and they take a lot of space. The production of airplane scale models is limited by just a few manufacturers. All have their own specialities, and not a single manufacturer produces all scales.
